Katie Jacoby to join MSE as director of administration

Katie Jacoby will join the Department of Materials Science and Engineering as director of administration on Oct. 1, 2023. Jacoby joins MSE after having served eight years as the executive director of administration and finance for the Cornell Laboratory of Accelerator-based Sciences and Education and the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source. Nicole Benedek promoted to associate professor

Nicole Benedek has been approved for promotion to associate professor with indefinite tenure by the Cornell Board of Trustees. Benedek joined Cornell in 2015 and leads the Theory and Simulation of Materials Group, which uses theory and first-principles calculations to advance fundamental understanding and create design rules for new classes of materials that may host new phenomena and properties. Wright awarded pre-doctoral trainee position at Hospital for Special Surgery

Quinton Wright, a materials science and engineering Ph.D. student, will perform research at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) as a pre-doctoral trainee within the Ruth L. Kirschtein National Research Service Award Institutional Research Training Program (T32). Wright will study diabetic and non-diabetic patients undergoing cementless total knee arthroplasty (TKA), to understand what factors can best predict post-operative complications in TKA procedures.
