Drishti started the journey to research from high school- researching and writing about environmental and economic sustainability of local power plant. Her final BEng research project was sponsored by Schlumberger working with elastomers. She thrives with challenges of problem solving. She is currently working with Transonic Inc. for her MEng project.
Her MEng project title is “Investigation to replace crucial silver epoxy material”. The silver epoxy material used by Transonic is due for obsolescence by the end of 2018. Silver epoxy is used for electrical connections and acoustic impedance. Transonic Inc. use this material for a variety of different flow sensors that are used to measure flow in applications such as dialysis surveillance, CABG surgery, and neurosurgery. Drishti’s focused project is to identify a suitable replacement for silver epoxy by characterizing alternative materials and comparing their properties. After identifying the material, a prototype will be tested and Transonic will verify and validate the new material and associated manufacturing processes.
Drishti joined Cornell as a graduate student, as she admires the course structure, diversity of the campus, academic opportunities that cater to individual student’s future prospects requirements. In its unique settings, the geographical location of Cornell has charmed her; she loves the experience of walking around the campus and uncovering the campus.
Drishti is planning to pursue a career in pharmaceuticals or renewables energy, those are the two industries she is most keen on. She is keen to pursue a career in pharmaceutical and biomedical industries as she would like to truly make a difference to people. Renewable energy is similar, but rather than benefiting people solely, it will hopefully save this planet and all the species inhabiting it. Upon completing her degree at Cornell, Drishti hopes to start working in industry with a full-time job.
Drishti is a globe traveler, she has lived on three continents, growing up in Dubai, and studying her BEng in London prior to the MSE MEng program at Cornell. This diversity has allowed her to gain multi-cultural experiences and facilitated her love to travel to explore the world. She loves trying new cuisines, visiting new places, meeting new people and learning about new cultures. She loves to attend music concerts, is a certified spin instructor and loves to read fiction and biographies, her favorites being Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg and Enlightenment Now by Steven Pinker.
