Cornell MS&E graduate student Ellen Keene (pictured left) was honored with a Best Poster Award at the Spring 2009 Materials Research Society (MRS) meeting. Ellen's poster was entitled The Effect of Silk Fibroin Hydrogels, Peptides, and ß-chitin on Calcium Carbonate Crystallization: A Synthetic Model for Nacre Formation. Her research was conducted in cooperation with John S. Evans (New York University) and Lara A. Estroff. She is a member of the Estroff group.
